The Company
Founding
The Company Was Founded by Jason M. Fitzmaurice, And Tony A.T. Mendina in early 2001. Since then we have added Daniel Sullivan to our Board of Directors and applied for 501(c)(3) status for the company.
What Is it we do?
The mission of IBOI is to produce film, and theatre pieces. We strive to do new works, lesser known works by established playrites / screenwriters, and familiar works with new interpretations. So far we have produced two short films, Blood and Stone, and Calvary. Blood and Stone was written by Jason M. Fitzmaurice, and Tony A.T. Mendina, both working on their first screenplay. Calvary is based upon the play By William Butler Yeats, a well know poet, much less well known for his twentysome stunning plays.
What Are You going to do?
Currently our planned projects include the following., All of these are, of course, subject to our ability to raise funds. We are currently in the script development stage for an short film, adapted from The McWilliamses and the Lightning, by Mark Twain. This will be our first foray into comedy, Mr. Fitzmaurice has also nearly completed an adaptation of Macbeth for the screen. This feature film will be set in the immediate post-war era. Also on  the horizon is our first attempt at theatre. We are hoping to find the time and money to present the group of plays that make up Yeats's Cuchulian cycle. More information on these will appear on this site as we get closer to production
Where are you guys anyway?
We are based in Dallas, Texas.  Surprisingly to many, there is a large group of independent theatre companies, film companies, and photographers in our area. Many people are not familiar with some of these small companies, and we urge you to familiarize yourself with them. The following is a list of some of our personal favourites
  • Misty Maberry A very talented photographer. Misty took production stills for our first film. Her site has some excellent examples of her work, which is simply stunning
  • ProgreXssive Arts This theatre company is run by Vikas Adams. Vikas is a well known (though not as well know as he should be) area actor, director, and producer. Their last production L-Play was called "ninety minutes of uninterrupted pleasure" by Dallas Morning News Critic Tom Sime. This company co-produced our first film.
  • Audacity Productions That all around guy of the arts Brad McEntire makes his home here. Mr. McEntire is an actor, director, producer, playwright, and screenwriter. And yet despite this massive amount of talent, he has yet to develop an Orson Wells Complex. Their productions both here and in New York, are always challenging, and original. Frequently using small nontraditional venues, a night at an Audacity Production is always well spent.
  • Echo Theatre A Brilliant Theatre company that focuses on Women's voices in theatre. They make their home at the Bath House Cultural Centre and have produced excellent works, both in full productions and staged readings.
  • Shane Arts  The multitalented Tim Shane runs this group. If you have ever attended the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, you have probably seen Tim. He runs Commedia Dell Carte, a traditional Commedia del Arte group that performs before the shows. Shane Arts also maintains the Comedy Killers, a comedy mystery theatre group.
